The concept of the "CALF" leash as opposed to an ankle leash was stumbled onto by Barry Lewin watching the long board surfers who had their leashes attached higher up on their calf instead of their ankle, to enable them to walk along the board without tripping over the leash.

Our calf leash has ben designed to attach the paddler to a surfski, with the least amount of restricted movement but in no way to get in the paddlers way while paddling, mounting, remounting and running up the beach at the finish of a race.

While leashes are not designed to be used for going in our out of the surf, it does allow you full freedom of movement in and out if the ski, allowing you to run up the beach at the finish of a race without having to stop and detach it.
